Dear Friends,
I have decided to create a blog as a better way to stay in touch with with those of you who have become friends on Facebook. A blog gives us all more room to talk, share thoughts, respond to my thoughts or others as postings continues. I would like to think that this may be a more thoughtful conversation, but humor is still appreciated. As we cannot copy and paste much into a blog, let's just share our own ideas. If you wish to ask me something that is more private, you may still use my address-- vjdeneen@gmail.com. Otherwise, meet me here for updates, ideas, and where I am being led by God. The title of my blog is "Against the Tide" because I am also striving and searching to make my life and thoughts go against the tide of the world and with the path of God. Still any topic can be thrown out for discussion. Let's be willing to learn from our own mistakes and not pretend we are perfect.

My url or way to find the blog is: http://jdagainstthetide.blogspot@blogspot.com

I look forward to this forum for serious and light conversation.
JD

  2. I am thinking about how we affect the world. The big issues are important--fair trade in Africa, wars and politics, the decisions our president makes, environmental concerns, faith, family. Still, I have found that some of the most influential things we can do are right around us every day. I have two neighbors, both women, who are carrying a lot of pain and day-to-day struggles. The women who lives in a towhhouse right next to me is being evicted. Her health is poor yet she is being taken off disability. I just happened to come home last evening to see her going into her place so troubled. I just went to her without a thought, asked her into my home, and we talked for over an hour, ending in prayer. I am not the only person in her life but I am one. I can help her move. I can continue to pray. But touching her life last night was important--to her not so much to me. I could have ignored the situation, thought that I have too much to do. What's an hour for someone right in front of you? Think about. Be someone who thinks and acts against the tide...

  3. JoAnn,

Hi! I like the blog idea. I may also switch to a blog. I miss our "tea time" talks. I'm glad to hear how God is blessing you and Will.

I haven't heard anything from my job interviews in Oregon. I started my new job on March 1st and have been dealing with a lot of fatigue again. Tonight I've been trying to catch up on email & facebook posts.

    Bye for now - Carol

  4. Sorry to hear about the fatigue, but glad you are working. Would be awfully nice to have you closer by and doing something you would enjoy more.

  5. If you would like to start a blog there are many sites to work with. I chose Google as I do so many other functions with them. The only drawback is that they own the rights to what you post, so don't put your ideas for the great American novel on there. Julie (of Julie and Julia) must have had another type, as the wrote her book from her blog. Anyway it is easy to set up and get going.
